Implications of unitarity and precision measurements on CKM matrix elements

Unitarity along with precision measurements of sin2\beta, V_{us} and V_{cb} allows one to find a lower bound V_{ub}\geq 0.0035 which, on using the recently measured angle \alpha of the unitarity triangle, translates to V_{ub}= 0.0035\pm 0.0002. This precise value, stable for a good deal of changes in \alpha, along with CP violating phase \delta found from unitarity allows the construction of a `precise' CKM matrix. The above unitarity based value of V_{ub} is in agreement with the latest exclusive value used as input by UTfit, CKMfitter, HFAG, however underlines the so called `tension' faced by the latest inclusive V_{ub}=0.00449 \pm 0.00033. Further, using this inclusive value of V_{ub} along with the latest sin2\beta, one finds \delta=23 ^{\rm o}- 39 ^{\rm o}, again in conflict with \delta measured in B-decays. The calculated ranges of the elements of the CKM matrix are in excellent agreement with those obtained recently by UTfit, CKMfitter and HFAG. Also, the ratio \frac{V_{ts}}{V_{td}} is in agreement with its latest measured value, whereas there is some disagreement between the `measured' and the calculated V_{td} values.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, incorporated latest dat

INORGANIC NANOPARTICLES: AN ALTERNATIVE THERAPY TO COMBAT DRUG RESISTANT INFECTIONS

One of the most urgent challenges that medical sciences face today is overcoming the problem of drug resistance. This review paper encompasses research studies that provide a solution towards this major concern. It aims to highlight the therapeutic effects of various metal-based nanoparticles over conventional antibiotics. Severe infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites are transmitted easily and spread across millions of people round the globe. Resistance developed by these organisms and their various strains against regular antibiotics has posed great threat to save the lives of humans. Nanoparticles are tiny in nature and thus capable of generating Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). These ROS bursts to create severe oxidative stresses causing damage to DNA, lipids peroxidation and protein changes resulting in cell death. This mechanism is quite different from traditional antibiotics and hence gives better results towards microbial resistance. The study demonstrates the use of metal nanoparticles such as silver, zinc oxide, aluminium oxide, gold, copper oxide, titanium dioxide, magnesium oxide, iron oxide in combination with various antibiotics to efficiently kill infectious microbes

Objective: This research work develops an approach to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by reduction of leaf extract of Catharanthus roseus plant. This study produces synthesized nanoparticles that have process-controlled attributes which make their antibiotic action highly efficient. These attributes include smaller size, proper morphology, uniform dispersion, metal ion content, and formation of functional groups. By optimizing the reduction process parameters, AgNPs gain the desired properties.  Methods: The biosynthesis of AgNPs process was performed using reaction of 10% (w/v) C. roseus leaf extract with AgNO3. The optimum conditions and concentration used for synthesis of nanoparticles were: 1 mM AgNO3, pH 5, and temperature 80°C with an incubation time of 72 h. All the above parameters were analyzed by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer with the surface plasmon resonance peak obtained at 440 nm. Results: Various characterization techniques were performed, namely, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence study, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared, dynamic light scattering, and atomic force microscopy. The results obtained from characterization confirmed the spherical morphology of the nanoparticles with size between 50 and 87 nm. In the current investigation, the antimicrobial activity of biosynthesized AgNPs was also determined using minimum inhibitory concentration and zone of inhibition methods against six different bacteria at different doses of AgNPs (100, 150, and 200 ÎĽg/ml) alone and also in combination with antibiotic-streptomycin. Conclusion: The results revealed that high concentration of AgNPs inhibits the bacterial growth. Furthermore, AgNPs revealed much stronger antibacterial action in synergy with streptomycin against antibiotic-resistant bacteria

The present study examines various features of structure of the national libraries’ websites of the world. National library of a specific subject are exempted from the study. The study evaluates all the national libraries’ website, which are in English or have a comprehensive English version, on the basis of designed checklist. The checklist is drafted on the basis of published literature and guidelines. The author highlighted that most of the selected features were found missing on the sampled websites of national libraries under study. The author also recommends that structure of the website is equally important and access of uploaded information on the website highly depends on the technical structure of the website. Therefore, there is a need to improve the structure of the website on the light of the suggested suggestion under study

An Enhanced CART Algorithm for Preserving Privacy of Distributed Data and Provide Access Control over Tree Data

Now in these days the utilization of distributed applications are increases rapidly because these applications are serve more than one client at a time. In the use of distributed database data distribution and management is a key area of attraction. Because of privacy of private data organizations are unwilling to participate for data mining due to the data leakage. So it is required to collect data from different parties in a secured way. This paper represents how CART algorithm can be used for multi parties in vertically partitioned environment. In order to solve the privacy and security issues the proposed model incorporates the server side random key generation and key distribution. Finally the performance of proposed classification technique is evaluated in terms of memory consumption, training time, search time, accuracy and there error rate
